Where to park in Sidmouth
Parking in Sidmouth
The charm of Sidmouth lies partly in its narrow streets, so to be able to stay within the beautiful town centre and have less than 5 minutes walk to the beach, you're going to have to give up the benefit of being able to park long term outside the Apartments.
That said, there are many choices that don't impact too much and offer a few solutions.
There are 3 main car parks in Sidmouth owned by the Council. See map for details.
Parking permits are available for 2, 3, 4 and 7 days, designed with the holidaymaker in mind and details of these and how to purchase them are given below:
Two, three, four and seven day permits
The two, three, four and seven day permits allow you to park your vehicle in any of the Council's pay and display car parks. These tickets can be bought from any Council Car Park Pay and Display ticket machine at any time, 24 hours a day.
The seven day permit can also be bought from the Sidmouth Tourist Information Centre at the address shown below. The permit can only be bought on the day and cannot be issued in advance.
The two, three, four and seven day ticket provides unlimited parking in all long stay car parks. However, it is only valid in short stay car parks for one continuous visit of up to three hours between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday inclusive. This restriction does not apply on Sundays. However, where a maximum stay restriction is in place, this still applies. The status (short stay or long stay) is recorded on the signs at the entrance to each car park.

Avoiding charges altogether
If you wish to avoid charges altogether, you can park on single yellow lines any time after 6.00 pm in the evening until 10.30 am the next day. This does mean however, that you must then move your vehicle to avoid a fine.
There are many roads without restrictions and these are provided in the details you receive a couple of days before your arrival.
Once you're here and you've settled into the Devon way of life and you're enjoying your daily 5 minutes stroll down to the beach and walk along the beautiful esplanade to our second amazing beach at Jacob's Ladder, parking will be the least of your concerns. :-)
Oh, I nearly forgot! There is another Car Park, this time privately owned on the seafront opposite the Bedford Hotel. They too, I'm sure will offer permits at preferential rates for holidaymakers.
Finally, all that's left to say is, 'Have a great time here in Sidmouth!' A truly fabulous, beautiful place to have a holiday.
